体图形学是计算机图形学新崛起的一个重要分支，它在吸收传统计算机图这和计算机影像技术等有关知识的基础上，逐步形成自己独特的概念，理论和方法。

Abstract

Building its own unique concept, principle, and methodology on traditional surface graphics and imaging techniques, volume graphics becomes an important branch of computer graphics. The paper makes a comparison between surface graphics and volume graphics, surveys the history, current status, and development trends of the state of art.
